Iranian films, A Minor Leap Down, to vie at Valencia festival

Two Iranian films will take part in the 30th International Film Festival of Valencia Cinema Jove in Spain.

Coproduced by Iran and France, Hamed Rajabi’s ‘A Minor Leap Down’ will participate in feature film section and a joint Iran-Italy production ‘Child’ directed by Ali Askari will represent Iran in then festival’s short film section, Mehr News Agency reported.

‘A Minor Leap Down’ is about a thirty-year-old woman, Nahal, which spends her fourth month of pregnancy. During a routine check-up she learns that her baby has died and she now faces a curettage abortion in two days’ time. When she tries to address the subject, neither her mother nor her husband give her a chance to speak.

Valencia International Film Festival gathers young filmmakers from all over the world in June each year and focuses on the most interesting and creative films. Two competitive sections constitute the thrust of a program which also include tributes, retrospectives and exhibitions.

A firm commitment to a cinema of quality for all kinds of audiences has placed Valencia Film Festival amongst the most important international festivals held in Spain.

The event is scheduled for June 19-26, 2015.
