The Tehran-based film production company Rainy Pictures was founded by Majid Barzegar in 2005 with the aim of stimulating the independent film production in Iran.
The production of cinematic features, documentaries, short films and international co-productions are the main activities of Rainy Pictures.
The feature films produced by Rainy Pictures have gained great deal of attention worldwide and have won numerous prizes at the international film festivals.
‘RAINY SEASONS’ (2009) written, directed by Majid Barzegar was the first film produced by Rainy Pictures film company which has won Jury’s Special Mention Award at the 34th São Paulo International Film Festival, Brazil 2010.
‘PARVIZ’ (2012) written, directed by Majid Barzegar has been awarded on numerous occasions including the Jury’s Special Mention Award of the 2012 San Sebastian International Film Festival and the NETPAC Award at the 2012 Asiatica Film Mediale, Rome, Italy.
‘A MINOR LEAP DOWN’ (2015) by Hamed Rajabi has won the respectable FIPRESCI prize in the Panorama section of Berlinale 2015.
‘CARPRT AND CHAOS’ (2015) by Nader T. Homayoun has been awarded five times at Luchon Festival 2016 including the Public Prize.
‘IMMORTAL’ (2015) by Hadi Mohaghegh another film produced by Rainy pictures has won the FIPRESCI prize at 20th IFF Busan.
‘VALDERRAMA’ (2016) by Abbas Amini has been nominated for the best feature debut at the Berlinale 2016.
‘A VERY ORDINARY CITIZEN’ (2016) written, directed by Majid Barzegar is the latest film produced by Rainy Pictures that has been selected for the Chicago International Film Festival 2016.
