‘Immortal’ wins Best Film award at India’s PIFF

‘Immortal’ (Mamiro) directed by Hadi Mohaghegh won the Best Film and Best Actor awards at the 14th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), India.

Reza Mohaghegh, producer of Iranian film ‘Immortal’ expressed his joy over the screening of the film in international festivals and the warm reception from Indian cinema enthusiasts, saying “the brilliant performance by Yadollah Shadmani for the role of Ayyaz caused the PIFF panel of juries and the secretariat to add a new section to the festival’s awards, namely the best actor award for the World Competition section.”

Thus, Yadollah Shadmani received Best Actor Award for his moving performance in ‘Immortal’, and the film itself was granted the Best Film award in the World Competition section.

‘Immortal’, produced by Majid Barzegar and Reza Mohaghegh, and directed by Hadi Mohaghegh, chronicles the loneliness of an old suicidal man who lives with his grandson and blames himself for all the disastrous events that had happened in his life, while the grandson is determined to convince him he has many reasons to live.

‘Immortal’ was also announced winner of the New Currents award for first-time filmmaker at the 20th Busan International Film Festival, 2015.

The 14th edition of Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) was held in India, from 14-21 Jan, 2016.
