Amid the days of war in Iran, with missile strikes forcing many residents to flee Tehran, Homayoun is determined to take his children to safety. But his daughter, Aida, refuses. She will not abandon her mother and chooses to stay among her people and the movement she believes in. Her decision is not merely emotional—it is an act of resistance.
Years earlier, Aida joined the streets during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement. She was arrested amid the protests and spent time in prison. The experience of incarceration, coupled with her mother’s continued imprisonment for political reasons, has left her in a state of depression and isolation.
The film, using multiple temporal shifts, portrays two periods of Aida’s life, revealing a past that continues to cast a shadow over her present.
Niloufar Jahangiri is an emerging filmmaker and cinema student.
She has completed screen writing and directing courses under the mentorship of renowned Iranian filmmakers Majid Barzegar and Shahram Mokri.
Her debut short film, Somewhere between Memories, marks her first directorial experience and reflects the influence of two significant contemporary events in Iran – the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and the Israeli attack on Iran – exploring their impact on both personal and collective memory.
